Barbara Corcoran, the founder of the Corcoran Group and a well-known investor on the television show “Shark Tank,” has sold her penthouse on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The property, located at 1158 Fifth Avenue, was listed in May and found a buyer just one day after being put on the market, according to The Real Deal. The final sale price was $13.5 million, which is $1.5 million above the original asking price, as reported by Realtor.com.

Corcoran originally bought the penthouse in 2015 for $10 million and spent an additional $2 million renovating it to fit her preferences. The renovations included a full redesign of both floors, converting a greenhouse area into an indoor/outdoor dining space, and updating the kitchen. The residence now features 11 rooms spread over two floors with views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.

Corcoran has previously discussed her long-standing connection to the property. She first encountered the penthouse in 1992 while working as a messenger and was captivated by it, even though she could not afford it at that time. She asked the owner to notify her if it ever became available, which eventually happened in 2015.

After nearly ten years as her main home, Corcoran decided to sell because her husband, Bill Higgins, was having difficulty using the staircase that links the two levels. The couple began looking for a single-story home that would better accommodate his mobility needs. Their search included an unsuccessful attempt to buy a Fifth Avenue co-op previously owned by actors Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.

Corcoran has since moved to a single-floor penthouse nearby in uptown Manhattan. Earlier this year, she also lost her trailer home in Pacific Palisades to California wildfires but has stated plans to rebuild it.
