Empire State Development backs $23M expansion by McAlpin Industries creating over 50 jobs

Empire State Development (ESD) has announced state support for McAlpin Industries’ planned expansion in the Town of Webster, Monroe County. The company, which specializes in sheet metal work, intends to build a 300,000 square-foot facility on Hard Road. The site will be used for light manufacturing operations such as laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing and assembly. McAlpin Industries plans to begin using part of the building during Phase 1 of the project and may expand further in later phases.

The state is providing up to $1 million through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program. This support is tied to McAlpin’s commitment to create up to 52 new jobs.

“For more than sixty years, McAlpin Industries has worked tirelessly to establish itself as an international leader in the sheet metal processing business,” said Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Hope Knight. “Thanks to Governor Hochul’s unwavering commitment to supporting innovative companies upstate, McAlpin will now be able to continue to grow and provide top-quality jobs to the Finger Lakes regions’ highly skilled workforce.”

Founded in 1964, McAlpin Industries serves sectors including telecommunications, computers, office equipment, medical devices and automotive products. The company expects its new facility will be operational by late 2026.

Monroe County and Greater Rochester Enterprise are also contributing assistance for the expansion project. The total cost is estimated at slightly over $23 million.

This initiative supports New York State’s broader efforts aimed at strengthening advanced manufacturing across the state. Governor Kathy Hochul’s strategy includes preparing shovel-ready sites and investing in workforce development programs as well as encouraging growth in semiconductor manufacturing.
