Empire State Development has announced the launch of New York Bio Connect, a digital platform designed to centralize information about the state’s life sciences sector. Developed in partnership with NewYorkBIO and the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), the platform aims to serve as a comprehensive resource for companies, entrepreneurs, investors, students, and policymakers. The hub is now available at newyorkbioconnect.com.
According to Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Hope Knight, “With New York Bio Connect, we are creating a powerful economic development asset for the entire state. This platform will not only spotlight the tremendous work happening across our life sciences ecosystem, but also expand access to capital, facilities, talent, and partnerships—helping New York attract investment, grow companies, and create good jobs in every region.”
NYCEDC President & CEO Andrew Kimball stated that “New York Bio Connect represents a transformational step forward that will continue to cement New York City as a national leader in the health and life science innovation sector. By centralizing essential resources, opportunities, and information, this platform breaks down barriers and empowers entrepreneurs, researchers, and companies of all sizes to reach their highest potential—driving discoveries, supporting job growth, and ultimately improving health outcomes for communities across New York and beyond.”
Jennifer Hawks Bland, CEO of NewYorkBIO said: “The launch of New York Bio Connect marks an important milestone for our state’s life sciences community. This platform reflects the collective strength of New York’s ecosystem—bringing together companies of every size, academic institutions, investors, and support organizations. By making it easier to access resources and opportunities, New York Bio Connect will empower innovators to advance research, accelerate development, and bring groundbreaking treatments and technologies to patients.”
The announcement was made during NewYorkBIO’s annual Innovation Summit. The initiative responds to a need identified by Empire State Development and NYCEDC for more centralized access to resources within the state’s diverse life sciences field. The platform offers real-time data on funding opportunities, facilities availability, career openings in biosciences fields throughout the state of New York as well as industry events.
New York State has prioritized its life sciences industry through investments in research institutions; workforce training; venture capital; and advanced facilities located statewide. The new digital hub is intended to further these efforts by connecting professionals with opportunities while promoting economic growth.
Empire State Development serves as the main agency overseeing business expansion initiatives across all regions of New York State.
