Georgina Chapman, the founder of fashion brand Marchesa and former spouse of Harvey Weinstein, is facing several financial and legal challenges related to unpaid bills.

Chapman purchased her West Village residence at 99 Jane Street in 2009 for $1.7 million in cash. She later took out a mortgage on the property with her brother, Edward Chapman, who also serves as CEO of Marchesa. After paying off an earlier loan, she secured another mortgage for $2.5 million in 2022 with Edward Chapman. According to a foreclosure complaint, Chapman defaulted on payments in November 2024 and now owes the original loan amount along with interest and late fees.

Earlier this year, the condo board at 99 Jane Street filed a lawsuit against Chapman over unpaid dues exceeding $7,000. In addition to personal debts, her business is also under scrutiny; GFP Real Estate claims that Marchesa owes more than $1.4 million for unpaid rent and utilities at its fourth-floor office at 80 Eighth Avenue. The company had previously occupied another floor but gave up that space in September. GFP’s lawsuit seeks damages for late payments and requests Marchesa’s removal from the remaining leased area.

In July, a merchant cash advance firm sued Marchesa as well as Georgina and Edward Chapman for allegedly halting payments after agreeing to pay $500,000 in receivables following an advance of $300,000.

Chapman co-founded Marchesa with Karen Craig in 2004 and gained public attention through her marriage to Weinstein in 2007. She separated from him in 2017 after allegations of sexual assault surfaced against him and finalized their divorce in 2021. Weinstein was convicted on charges including third-degree rape and criminal sexual assault in the first degree in 2020.

Weinstein once owned substantial real estate holdings but sold many properties following his conviction and subsequent legal troubles.

Since 2020, Chapman has been dating actor Adrien Brody.

“Weinstein himself held a sizable real estate portfolio that he sold off following the rape accusations,” according to the release.
