IAM District 19 President and Directing General Chairman Reece Murtagh, along with TCU/IAM Vice-President Nick Peluso, visited Capitol Hill to advocate for the No Tax on Overtime for All Workers Act (H.R. 5475). The legislation, introduced by Representatives Nicole Malliotakis (R-N.Y.) and Emilia Sykes (D-Ohio), aims to extend the existing overtime tax exemption to include airline, rail, and other workers who are currently exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

During their visit, Murtagh and Peluso joined legislative staff from both the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) and the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) to thank the bill’s sponsors. They also discussed strategies to secure the bill’s passage before the next tax season.

The proposed bill seeks to provide airline, railroad, and millions of other FLSA-exempt workers with the same overtime tax relief that many other American workers already receive.
