The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) recently held its 2025 Joint Air Transport Safety Committee (JATSC) Conference at the William W. Winpisinger Center in Hollywood, Maryland. The event focused on advancing safety initiatives within the air transport sector.

The committee concentrated on several key areas, including encouraging collaborative safety programs such as the Ground Safety Action Program. Efforts were also directed toward injury prevention, hazard mitigation, and the development of training and education for workers. Another priority was advocating for comprehensive worker safety reporting systems.

During the conference, daily video wrap-up reports were produced to summarize key sessions. These included presentations on issues such as distracted driving and workplace behaviors like carelessness and complacency.

The IAM continues to support initiatives that aim to improve safety standards across the air transport industry.
