Josh Hartford, Special Assistant to the International President for the IAM Union Rail Division, spoke at the IAM New Mexico State Council meeting to update delegates on recent rail industry developments. During his remarks, Hartford discussed several issues facing rail workers such as contract negotiations, workforce safety, and ongoing federal policy initiatives designed to protect union jobs.

Hartford recognized IAM Local 331 for participating in the council for the first time and emphasized the importance of solidarity among local unions within New Mexico. “The IAM Rail Division continues to give members a strong voice in the rail industry here in New Mexico,” said Hartford. “We’re fighting every day to make sure our members are being seen and rewarded for the critical work they do throughout the state.”

He also praised Local 331’s engagement with other delegates, stating that their involvement demonstrates ongoing collaboration between the Rail Division and state councils.

The event highlighted efforts by the IAM Rail Division to promote rail workers’ rights and expand its role across different sectors of the industry.
