The Jazz Loft @ Southampton Concert Series will end its spring and summer season with a performance titled “Abstract Angularity” on August 28. The event will take place at the Avram Theater, located on the Stony Brook Southampton campus.

The concert will feature The Jazz Loft Jazz Orchestra, an 18-piece group led by Thomas Manuel. Manuel is the founder of The Jazz Loft and serves as the Stony Brook University Jazz Department Endowed Artist in Residence Fellow. According to organizers, this final show will highlight the jazz orchestra’s qualities, including patience, honesty, playfulness, emotion, courage and will.

“The voice of the Jazz orchestra speaks of the characteristics which it embodies: patience, honesty, playfulness, emotion, courage and will,” stated event organizers.

The series marks its first season at The Avram Theater and aims to bring both traditional and innovative jazz performances to communities in Southampton and across the East End. Organizers say this effort is part of a larger initiative to establish Stony Brook Southampton as a center for arts, community events and educational programs.

Each concert in the series has focused on exploring jazz from historical and contemporary perspectives while providing entertainment and education. Event partners emphasize that The Jazz Loft’s mission centers on preserving jazz music as well as offering education and live performances. Through collaboration with Stony Brook Southampton, local residents have more opportunities to experience jazz directly.

Tickets for “Abstract Angularity” are priced at $36 for general admission, $33 for seniors and $18 for students of Stony Brook University. Tickets can be purchased online.
