MAHLE, a global supplier of automotive components, is set to expand its facility in Lockport, Niagara County. The company will invest $6.8 million in the project, which is expected to create 11 new jobs and retain 226 existing positions at the site.
Empire State Development (ESD) is supporting the expansion by offering up to $1.7 million in Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits. These incentives are tied to MAHLE’s commitment to job creation in the region.
“MAHLE, a community-dedicated company doing business across the globe, is one of the top performers of Western New York’s manufacturing economy,” said Empire State Development President, CEO & Commissioner Hope Knight. “With a highly skilled workforce and plans for adding a new research and testing facility, the company is in an excellent position to create more jobs and products, and to grow the regional economy.”
Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, MAHLE supplies parts for both passenger cars and commercial vehicles worldwide. The company employs over 67,000 people globally.
The expansion includes relocating a Research & Testing Center from Michigan to Lockport. This center will focus on testing thermal management products used for consumer comfort in vehicles. The facility aims to ensure that automotive components meet high standards for performance, safety, durability, and innovation.
Stefan Land, Vice President Thermal and Fluid Systems at MAHLE North America said: “We sincerely appreciate the strong support from state and local officials. Their partnership plays a vital role in enabling our growth and strengthening our long-term commitment to the region.”
