The Long Island Explorium is set to hold its eighth annual Maker Faire Long Island on Sunday, September 14. For the first time, the event will take place at Stony Brook University.
This year’s Maker Faire coincides with the Explorium’s 20th anniversary. Organizers expect more than 100 makers to participate, offering hands-on exhibits, performances, workshops, and demonstrations of new technology. The event anticipates over 2,000 attendees from across the tri-state area and will feature involvement from Stony Brook University faculty, alumni, and student groups.
“Maker Faire Long Island has always been about sparking curiosity and celebrating creativity,” said Lisa Collet Rodriguez, the event co-producer. “This year, with our move to Stony Brook University and the Explorium’s 20th anniversary, the Faire is reaching new heights — from fire-breathing dragons to Star Wars set pieces, and from robotics to sustainability. It is a day where everyone, from kids to seasoned engineers, can be inspired.”
Outdoor events are free for all visitors; tickets are required only for select indoor programs.
