A mansion in Alpine, New Jersey, has sold for $17.7 million, marking the highest-priced residential transaction in the state over the past three years, according to Mansion Global. The property, known as Chateau de la Roche and located at 48 Rio Vista Drive, closed on Tuesday at a price equating to $689 per square foot.
The sellers, David and Mindy Kwon, originally bought the land in 2011 for nearly $4 million. They listed the home for $25 million in 2021 and later reduced the asking price by $2.5 million two years ago before securing this sale. The buyer’s identity has not been made public.
Built in 2017, the seven-bedroom home features 10.5 bathrooms and covers 25,700 square feet. Amenities include two indoor plunge pools, a sauna, steam room, conservatory, a 15-seat theater, billiards room, wine cellar, two bars, an elevator, gas fireplace and central-vacuuming system. Other notable spaces are a wood-paneled library with fireplace, grand staircase and four-car garage; outside amenities include a swimming pool and spa.
The residence was designed by Zampolin & Associates Architects on its two-acre lot. Denise Albanese of Christie’s Mahwah-Saddle River Sales Gallery represented the sellers and also designed the interiors. Buyer representation came from Richard Orlando and Jason Pierce of Prominent Properties Sotheby’s International Realty along with Taylor Lucyk of Christie’s International Real Estate Group.
Another home on Rio Vista Drive may soon eclipse this sale: Avraham Tahari is seeking $25 million for his nearby 21,000-square-foot property at 31 Rio Vista Drive.
