The Convergence lecture series will launch with a talk focused on the impact of artificial intelligence and strategies for preparing for careers in an increasingly automated world. The event, titled “How to Thrive in the Age of AI,” will feature Po-Shen Loh, a social entrepreneur, inventor, and mathematics professor at Carnegie Mellon University.
Loh is known for his work as the national coach of the USA Mathematical Olympiad team, which has achieved four gold medals during his tenure. He has also developed solutions addressing challenges such as pandemic response and educational technology. According to organizers, Loh’s experience includes delivering a nationwide speaking tour that reached 250 audiences across 100 cities. His online presence includes co-creating YouTube videos that have garnered more than 25 million views.
The lecture will take place at noon on Saturday, September 20, in the Charles B. Wang Center Theater. Admission is free and open to the public; however, seating is limited and reservations are required.
“How to Thrive in the Age of AI” will examine how skills like creative problem-solving, judgment, and communication are becoming increasingly important as automation expands. The session aims to help students and professionals understand how they can develop these strengths now.
