Stony Brook University President Andrea Goldsmith assisted first-year students as they moved into campus housing on August 18. Goldsmith, who started her role as the university’s seventh president on August 1, joined staff members and students to help new arrivals with unpacking and moving belongings.

University athletes also participated by helping transport bags, boxes, and carts into residence halls. Members of the cheer and dance teams welcomed incoming students and their families upon arrival.

The day concluded with a New Seawolf and Family Welcome BBQ at the Staller Steps. The event featured music performed by the Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band.

Goldsmith’s involvement marks her first move-in day since assuming leadership at Stony Brook University.
