Stony Brook University alumni have launched a new initiative, Wolves of Wisdom, to support incoming students as they begin their college journey. The program invites graduates from all years to offer guidance and share personal experiences with new Seawolves, aiming to help them navigate campus life and make the most of university resources.

Over 120 alumni, spanning classes from 1964 through 2025, participated in the program by providing messages of congratulations and advice to both first-year and transfer students. Karen Hollander Schwarz ’69 emphasized the value of forming connections across diverse backgrounds. “Allow yourself to meet and get to know people from different backgrounds than yours,” she said. “Allow yourself to spread your wings. Be empathetic. Grow and enjoy.”

Other alumni encouraged active engagement in campus activities and personal development. Christina Geraci ’04, a member of the Alumni Association Board, urged students to explore new opportunities: “As you begin your journey at Stony Brook, I encourage you to get involved and try new things! Stony Brook has so much to offer. Whether it’s an interesting class on a topic you’ve always been curious about or an exciting new club, you never know where stepping out of your comfort zone might take you.”

The Wolves of Wisdom program is part of ongoing efforts by Stony Brook University alumni to foster community among students and enhance their overall college experience.
