The University Orchestra will hold a concert on Tuesday, November 11, at the Staller Center for the Arts, starting at 7:30 pm. The orchestra, under the direction of Susan Deaver, will perform works by Arturo Márquez, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Franz Schubert. The program includes Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat major, Op. 107, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 9 in C major, also known as “The Great.”
Cellist Eric Ness, a Long Island native and winner of the Undergraduate Concerto Competition, will be featured as soloist. Ness graduated from Stony Brook University in 2025 with degrees in mathematics and music and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in data science at UC San Diego.
The University Orchestra is composed of 70 undergraduate students from Stony Brook University. Tickets for the event are priced at $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors aged 62 and over, and $5 for students.
